Jay Armstrong is a queer lighting and costume designer based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Emerging with a background in live performance and a guerilla-style creative spirit, Jay works to push and redefine the possibilities of live entertainment through an off-kilter and progressive lens. They have worked across the country, working with organizations such as Interlochen Center for the Arts and Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. They are currently finishing their final year at Ball State University.
Jay's recent design credits include Polaroid Stories (LD / Cornerstone Center for the Arts) and Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again (CD / Ball State University).
They are also interested in assisting and producing work. Recent credits include A Christmas Carol (Asst. LD / Indiana Repertory Theatre) and Queer Spaces for Queer Faces: A Dance Festival (Technical Producer).
When they aren’t engaging in creative pursuits, they enjoy collecting vintage jewelry, visiting art museums, and listening to 90s indie rock
